VV-50 “Portable” (1921-1924)

The VV-50 is very important to the history of the record player, because it was the first “portable” or later known as “suitcase” model produced by the Victor Talking Machine Company. During the 1920s, this model (and other similar portable models) would become extremely popular due to its ability to allow the consumer to bring music along everywhere they went. This model had an oak or mahogany cabinet, steel corner protectors, a carrying handle, and a single spring motor. About 153,000 VV-50’s were produced in 3 years.
