VV-X Tabletop Victrola (1910-1921)

After the failure of the first tabletop Victrola (the VV-XII), the Victor Company decided to release an improved tabletop model in late 1910, named VV-X. Initially the model sold for $75 ($2,027 in 2019), and by 1921, the model was sold for $110 ($1,412 in 2019).

In 1912, the model was converted to a full sized floor model, and featured a small shelf and Queen Anne legs, which were referred to as “Spindle” or “Spider” legs. The design was unpopular, but is significant for this unique quality. By 1913, the X design changed again and resembled the flagship Victrola (VV-XVI). About 570,000 VV-X were produced in its 11 year production.
